Replacing a dishwasher in a Glenroy kitchen
For a replacement, we turn off the dishwasher tap, disconnect the old unit from the tap, drain and power, slide it out, then fit the new one into the same cavity. It is secured with the brackets supplied, levelled so the door closes cleanly, connected and run to check for leaks.
Before you buy, measure the cavity width and height and compare them with the new model’s specifications. Townhouse kitchens in particular can have tight cavities, and a dishwasher that is a few millimetres too tall will not slide under the bench. Send photos of the entry route as well as the cavity, and mention stairs or tight turns into the kitchen or laundry.
No dishwasher there yet?
A first-time install is possible only where a suitable cavity, a dishwasher tap, a drain connection and a power point are already in place. If the kitchen is missing the tap or drain, a licensed plumber has to add them first; a new power point is work for a licensed electrician. We will tell you which of those your kitchen needs before anything is booked.
Washing machines and ovens
For a washing machine, we remove the transit bolts, level the machine, connect it to the existing taps and drain and test it; a normal fitting takes no more than 60 minutes. Connecting hoses to existing taps is not plumbing work in Victoria (Plumbing Regulations 2018, regulation 12(2)(e)), but new or moved taps and drains need a licensed plumber.
Freestanding plug-in ovens and cooking ranges can be positioned, levelled and fitted with their anti-tip bracket. Built-in ovens are fitted once an electrician has made the connection. Hardwired cooktops need a licensed electrician and gas work needs a licensed gasfitter; Tradie at Door does neither.
