Appliance installation in Reservoir

Moving into an older house, unit or infill home in Reservoir often means a washing machine, a dishwasher and sometimes an oven all waiting to be connected. We install them in one visit where we can, connecting to the taps, drain and power point already in place, so the kitchen and laundry are ready to use.

Setting up after moving day

Removalists usually leave appliances in the right room but not connected. We put the washing machine in place, remove the transit bolts if it is new, level it and connect it to the existing taps and drain, then run a test. A normal fitting takes no more than 60 minutes, and doing the dishwasher in the same visit saves a second trip.

Connecting hoses to existing taps is not plumbing work in Victoria under regulation 12(2)(e) of the Plumbing Regulations 2018. If the new laundry has no taps where the machine needs to go, or the drain needs changing, a licensed plumber has to do that first.

Dishwashers and freestanding ovens

A dishwasher goes into an existing cavity with an existing tap, drain and power point. Infill homes and units often have a standard cavity, while an older kitchen may not have one at all; in that case a plumber and electrician need to add the connections before we can install.

Freestanding plug-in ovens and cooking ranges we position, level and secure with their anti-tip bracket. Built-in ovens are fitted after an electrician connects them. Hardwired cooktops need a licensed electrician and gas appliances a licensed gasfitter; Tradie at Door does not do that work.

Bought it at Northland?

Bought a new washing machine or dishwasher from The Good Guys Northland? We’ll install it for you, whatever the brand. Store names are for location reference only; no affiliation or endorsement is implied.

The appliances left behind

If the previous owner left an old appliance behind, or you are replacing your own, we can disconnect it and take it away. Disposal or recycling is a separate charge, listed in the quote. Dryer stacking is available too, subject to the machines being compatible, the manufacturer’s stacking kit being supplied and the floor being level and solid. Include both model numbers and the kit details so the stacking request can be assessed.

If the move also leaves wardrobes or desks in boxes, include assembly of the new furniture with the appliance list, noting which rooms and items need attention first.

FAQs

Can you connect several appliances in one Reservoir visit?

Yes. List them all on the form so the visit can be planned.

My new laundry has no washing machine taps. Can you help?

New taps are work for a licensed plumber. Once they are in, we can install the machine.

Can you take the previous owner’s old appliance away?

Yes, for a separate disposal or recycling charge included in the quote.

Do you connect gas ovens?

No. Gas appliance work needs a licensed gasfitter. We install freestanding plug-in ovens and ranges.
